Had a half hour to kill

While waiting on gas for the tractor I hit the creek for a quick walk. Only needed fifteen minutes to find this Marrow M.T. looking thing. Hope everyone had a good 4th of July holiday, thanks for looking.

What is the material?

Thanks, old digger. Americus, the material is Quartzite, one of the more common colors.

Nice point! Do you notice if they stay in the creek to long that the water can actually wear the edges down on the quartzite types? I found a quartzite end scraper and it was almost smooth from the tumble and water wear.

Thanks, rock. There is no doubt the Quartzite that comes from the creek has a tumbled, or worn down look the longer its in the creek. In the pic below the two Savannah River pieces where made in the same time period, IMHO, with very similar material. The piece on the the right was found in the creek bottom, the piece on the left was found on high and dry ground over looking the creek, our four-wheeler track.

It is very challenging to say the least. Sand, mud and slippery rocks and sometimes snakes. You sure cant run without falling or sinking. It is a slow hunt but very rewarding if you find a nice point. I like it!
