This is my f75 folded with the "Fold and Go"
They are available on eBay (search on fold and go metal detector modification) they were developed for the Garrett AT series but the seller offered to do an installation for me because it hadn't been tried On a fisher an it wasn't known if it would work.
Obviously it works well and I love how simple it is to open and close- just press
the button to open or fold it. Fits in a duffel bag. The device sells for $40
Or $50 and there's a video on how to install. It only adds a few ounces weight.
Also shown in the picture is the sling and headphones, and a guard I installed
over the on/off Knob.

If this adds a couple inches to the machine I'd rock one. Be a win win. Thought about getting the longer lower rod.

The middle tube gets a section cut out using tubing cutter or hacksaw so as to keep height unchanged so
If you want extra height it is available. The goal is to
Fold into roughly equal parts but there is lee-way.
I have an equinox coming soon and I might install
One on it but not immediately.

How did you do your guard on the on-off knob?

How did you do your guard on the on-off knob?

I found in house hardware a brass curtain rod support that was curved on one leg and had another leg 90 degrees for wall mounting. I snapped that leg off in a vice and contoured the straight part to match
The battery housing of the f75. All I did was tape it
Over the knob with black duct tape. It works well
I can turn it on or off easily but it won't move inadvertently anymore. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1513390703.387453.webp

Very good article, how about balance.

I never gave it a thought, but it couldn't have upset the balance very much cause I barely notice a difference since installation. Certainly any upset in balance is less than what a different coil would be

How sturdy is it? And wiggle or slop?

It is sturdy and durable , and there is no slop or wiggle at all

Boy I ordered one of these for my equinox and it has been sitting for some time in my shop, I went and installed tonight. It feels tight in the hand before you install, But once installed it is horrible..... If you like a tight wobble free shaft. I do not recommend at all
