Hairy Destruction

If you live in northeastern Pennsylvania, you know immediately about these. It is a gypsy moth caterpillar. These little nuisances have invaded us and are defoliating our woodlands to such an extent that the hills are bare in areas except for the evergreens. Those of you that have never seen one should count yourselves as lucky.

We've pretty much met our quota for destruction with the pine beetles, so y'all can keep those caterpillars.

Stick some in your pocket Jeff and turn 'em loose. They can do a number on a tree.

I recall back in 68 they did the same thing in Eastern Conn,looked like dead of winter in July.

Ya they were so bad you could sit outside and actually hear them munching on the trees!

Maybe we can train they to eat poison ivy.
