Halves, Dimes, and Nickels

I'm a new customer at a bank that I pulled 26 silver halves from recently from unfamiliar MWR. I became a customer so I they would order me a box, hopefully more of the great MWR I've been cherry picking from them in the past 3 weeks. The box ended up being the familar Wells Fargo supplied yellow MWR. The previous $260 in halves must have been old MWR, or halves they roll themselves with a machine (they are an old bank, they may roll their own like the main branch of my credit union does)

$1000 in Dimes (4 boxes)
Box1: All Clad, save a British 5 Pence and a Hoser dime
Box2: 1964D
Box4: 1952D
Box4: All Clad

Brings my dime averages down hard to 76 silvers from 55.4452 boxes. 1.37/box!


$200 in Nickels (2 boxes)
Box1: WHAT A BOX! In my first roll I found a 1935 Buffalo. My second roll bag up a 1944D War Nickel. I kept going and the box and found 2x 1936 Buffalo Nickels, another 1935 Buffalo, a Dateless D-MintMark Buffalo (soaking in vinegar and salt now), and a 48S Hole Filler. Also found a 2009D, a hoser nickel, and 23x Pre 1960 nickels.
Box2: Not as great as the first box, but found a 1937 Buffalo and 30x Pre '60s

Running average is 13 war nickels out of 15 boxes. 0.87/box!

The Dateless Buffalo with D Mintmark is a 1919D

?? - Does the vinegar and salt remove corrosion so you can see the date or does it enhance the date like NicADate does? I have an old "V" nickel with green and rust colored corrosion and no visible date. Should I soak it in vinegar and salt or just leave as-is?

And how long do you soak it?

Does both, but creates a move even etching because the whole coin is covered.

I did this one overnight, but I could see top half the date. I knew it was either a 1918 or 1919. I"ve had some that take 5 days.

I think I will give it a try and see. I'm still looking for my first 1800s coin and that "v" nickel with the unreadable date may be it.
