I picked this up at an estate sale today. The level of detail is incredible. I uploaded some photos into ChatGPT, and it suggested that the intricate animal figures and floral motifs are characteristic of Persian metalwork from the Qajar dynasty (1796–1925). I’m not sure how accurate that is, but either way, I thought it was pretty neat and it definitely makes a great display piece. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks for looking!

Nice. I would agree with Islamic/Middle Eastern and quite probably Persian. Looks like tinned copper, with most of the tinning worn away, which is fairly typical. Dating is difficult, but I would guess late 1800s.

I would be careful of getting AI to properly say what certain things are.
Unless it can cross reference it to an identical item. Then see what/where/ who is referencing it, or selling it.
There's so many sellers that will BS an AI generated description and it is then picked up by AI and everyone believes it.

Agreed, and that's true in a lot of things, not just object identification. AI is just a glorified search engine, and it's only as good as the data it has been fed. The old saying still applies: "Garbage in, garbage out."

I have seen very different answers regarding the same questions. A person can manipulate it even by throwing it a result that it didn't mention.
Now for figuring out equations-its really good.
It's kind of interesting to explore different ways to ask.

I agree, I've had similar experiences. Alot of times it has been completely wrong so I don't take it for gospel but I do find its a good starting point to look into specific direction. I've also found it to be a little more reliable if you use deep search mode. It takes much longer but will give references.

That is quite a nice find !!! CONGRATS !!!!

Because I've seen these tinned copper repousse pieces, such as pitchers, plates and bowls somewhat frequently ending up in thrift shops. I've always believed them to be more recently made copies of ones that may have been produced in the later 19th century.

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

perhaps the quality of the images are less than expected for a truly vintage piece?

The bowl is hand engraved and has hand stamped figures, 18th-19th century, heavy handy work. Been dealing antiques for long time and you have a GREAT find!!

Treasure or not. It may not be as intricate as some of those examples but either way I still think its still a neat piece!
