I'm trying to find out what this could be it's got an overall twisted shape to it where it fits comfortably in your hand and appears to be a hand axe I've done some research in the area and there's several (13) prehistoric sites reported within 5 mile radius dating anywhere from 5000 b.c. to 100a.d. it measures about 5.75 inches and about 3.25 inches wide

Trade Blank/Quarry Blank.

Not refined enough to be considered a Preform imo...
Spot on. That zigzag edge is a good indicator that something isn't a finished tool.

Quarry blank, or perhaps a core in some areas where they used biface cores like that. (You see a lot of them out at obsidian quarries in the Rockies where they were "harvesting" flakes for arrowheads.)

Really? That seems so backwards..

Tesorodeoro. You started off with "I'm trying to find out what this could be" soliciting member comments. I figured if you didn't get a clear distinct answer - other members (who may not visit this sub-forum) may know for sure based on your pictures, etc. My comment was only a suggestion as a possible avenue for ID...

First, this isn’t my thread. Second the reason I said it sounded backwards is that this sub-forum is where these types of “what is it?” questions are referred to in order to get more exposure (to the eyes of folks knowledgeable on NA artifacts). That’s all.
