Hand carved lead button "8" "76"

Found at same site with silver tray that had "8" monogram.
This site spans 1817 large cent to 1908 Indianhead coins.
Better view of button, it's an "8" , then "76".
Possibly Rev War
This button is the size of a dime.
Any help would be appreciated! I just moved this to what is it with hopes of confirming if its rev war thank you for any help

Re: Hand carved lead button "8" "76"

Here's a pic of back of this button next to a blank. On closer inspection, a blob of lead appears to have been added and carved on. The numbers appear to be stamped on by a die.
Any input would be appreciated!

I still think it is a lead bag/bail seal, but really hard to judge not seeing it in person. Breezie
