Found this at the thrift store. It is heavy and cold to touch.
Would this be bone since it is painted? Would they paint ivory?
Seems like that defeats the purpose of using ivory.

My daughter brought back a chess set for me from Morocco made of that soft stone. Much of it broke from the trip back. It's very fragile.
