I went out for two hours after getting off early from work. 4th signal out pops a William 3rd copper! It's my second one in a year!!! WOW! That coin has witnessed 320 New Years celebrations!!!

Right next to the hole was a holed copper and a salt glazed marble. I thought I stumbled upon a colonial marble game!

I was stoked ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1451615441.142951.webp

I later found out it's a Bennington marble c. 1850- so I guess it wasn't a home run:(

Nice old copper and what a way to end your year

Nice work bud, you have some good spots!
Thanks Brad. You haven't been doing so bad yourself. You're welcome to join me anytime if you want to make the trip up.
Really cool note to end the year on. Wishing you a great 2016 and looking forward to all the discoveries you'll post.

Thanks Zk. If my 2016 is half as good as my 2015 I'll be very happy. Stay tuned! Lol

Real nice old copper to wnd your year!!
Congrats.

Steve,

Glad you managed some oldies for your efforts.

Regards + HH

Thanks Chris. I made up my list too early apparently . Are you doing a "best of"? You had quite a year yourself

Yeah I'll have something posted in the next day or two, thanks!

Really nice pile of loot.

Btw, I like your sig. That's one thing I've definitely learned over the last year.
Another is to follow your gut, intuition and instincts. They never lie.

nice, nice, nice!
Thx man. I think that's exactly what I said when dug it! Lol

Thanks Wheat. I was hoping for one more nice oldie when I went for a hunt. In our hobby we often don't get what we hope for, and then score when we least expect. I was expecting not to score because I was hoping to, and therefore surprised. What a hobby.

Happy 2016 and best of luck

Good one ! And your second this year, pretty cool.
Isn't it fun to say 300+ years old coin ?
As one poster mentioned not a lot of those found. I suspect some are found but are totally toasted. I got my first W&M 1694 this year, another 15 minutes in the dirt, and it would have been gone too.

Glad you still have digable conditions.

Nice finds there scrappy.Good eye on the old marble man, nice find!Congrats on the copper.Finding something nice early always seems to make for a more enjoyable hunt.-HH

We all look at the ground and sites in different ways. I suppose I just try to make as many educated guesses I can, based on the information I have and can get.
Nice start to 2016 Scrappy.

Thanks Rob. I enjoy finding some of the coins you guys find across the pond here in the States.

Although our definition of a old find will probably never be the same...

That big ugly mug makes that old copper even prettier lol. 1600s coins hold a special place in my heart. And in all honesty are a really tough and incredible find. Great job bud

Great way to end the season. That marble is awesome. Looking forward to your 2016 finds

I was trying to make the first William 3rd go banner by putting my mug in the shot. It's a technique that incorporates parts of the beer-goggle phenomenon and the pity of Nancy Carrigan. Lol

Thanks Will. Hopefully I'll get in a 2016 hunt even though they're calling for teens later this week.

That's a good one for sure! I like the William's. And the marble is killer.

Hey thanks. A lot of thinks we're going on with coinage in Britain during the time this coin was minted. I don't know if anyone is interested but a good read is about the recoinage act of 1696.

Now that is incredible !! What a way to start the year! KW is really cool! Congrats and keep it coming for 2016
