Went back to the field I have been finding large cents and my first 2 cent piece. Targets were screaming at me. The trash was hitting just as hard as the deep sweet sounds. Managed to pull a few keepers out. Three buttons. One back mark reads "Treble Gilt Standard Colour" with a 2 in a circle. The next one is barely visable but it has a crown with "Plated" across the bottom. The final button appears to be a naval button with an eagle and shield on the back over a lined field. It reads "Standard Rich Colour". Now this button appears to be the NA75 button in Alberts book but it isn't quit right. Any help would be appreciated. Finally to round out the finds there is... Toe tap Suspended buckle Little padlock Brass ring Mini sword Brass rivet Iron stirrup (not sure if age on this thing) any ideas? Thanks for looking. image-981918992.webp image-2874757161.webp

Man those sound like a lot of great finds. No clue on the button though!

Wow that has to be the tiniest old lock ever

Great looking finds I love them

I believe it is but I didn't know they were iron. Don't know too much about horse tack. At least not yet. The area I am hunting has been a horse pasture since 1820. That is when the house was built. A apple press mill was about 200 yards upstream from the field I am in. There is a house across the street that dates pre 1800. As far as the current owner knows(he is 89). There had been nothing but horse fields in the area.

Really nice finds Todd. The button is cool too, and is probably be few years older than you think. It is not an NA75, but actually a dress button with the shank gone, and a fiine patriotic eagle in the maker's design. The back reads in part "rich colour" on the back bottom. In fact eagle backmarks are not at all common compared to most gilt buttons, and that one's sure a keeper.,

Thanks johnnyi! I know a little about buttons but had no clue on this item. I knew it had to be something special and it seems it is indeed special.

Great finds! I really like the little sword, wonder what it went to... Congrats!

Very nice finds.

Just uploaded the photos of some of the relics fresh out of the ground. Enjoy!

Hard to tell from the pics because of size relation, but the small lock could be a diary lock.

Wow I love that lock. Hard to tell by the pic... how big is it?

Nice finds, especially the button and the lock. I found a tiny lock a couple years ago similar to yours.
