From what I can gather that night in 1971 was the grand opening. Could this be from that event? Maybe from the "pre" opening celebirty night on the 11th of HRC opening in LONDON.

Found in a field near a "fireworks stand". With an ACE 250. Wifey is getting the hang of it for sure!

Re: Hard Rock Cafe Opening Night London?

Looks dubious to me. We don't use $'s for one thing and don't have those kind of taxes in the UK. Looks like some kind of memorabilia type necklace. Hard Rock cafe have a habit of churning out collectibles like shot glasses etc.The idea is to collect 1 shot glass from each cafe around the world. I think this will be a similar type of promotion.
Had a quick search on Ebay, can't find anything similar. Could be rare and worth a bit! :)

(Canada has $..ain't London Ontario is it?)

Re: Need help with this interesting find:Hard Rock Cafe Opening Night London?

The only references I have found say the opening was on June 14th - a Monday not a Friday i.e.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_1971

June 14, 1971 (Monday)

* Norway begins oil production in the North Sea.
* The first Hard Rock Cafe opens in London, England

From what I've learned on T'Net, I believe it could be described as a Fantasy piece.
It appears that all the collective info on it is meaningless.
And - what the heck does "Subject to installation" mean?

Interesting piece. I think its a brass ticket key ring. DSC06720.webp

Maybe the Seminole Indians would be interested in buying it for their museum. ;D Or maybe its fantasy. :dontknow:

Wow I looked all over and didn't see anything close. It almost looks too small to be a key chain/fob, maybe it came off of a necklace or charm bracelet. This could be our new chicken egg counter thingy or pignuts

I have shot The new york state fairgrounds for now some eight years . I have seen every kind of key chain there is (not realy) but alot of them on first sight that was my guess.

The infamous piggnutts were very close to being solved, to everyones satisfaction, when PBK became fed up and pulled the plug. Piggy continued to insist his pot metal widgets must be something valuable, even though they were dated 2002, because he possessd the only known partial set. :D I would like to see the return of the piggnuts, to end it the correct way, with a green check.

I have seen key chain thingies smaller than this.

The Fed TaX and City Tax should be a clue but danged if i can find where a Fed Tax and a City Tax are referenced. So I don't think it is from the States and Canada is 5% now. This has a 6.2% Fed Tax added back in 1971???? :dontknow: :icon_scratch:

Agreed. When it opened, it wasn't the corporate run souvenir selling machine it is today. It was just 2 guys offering something different and I doubt if they would have gone to the expense of making something like this for the occasion. Perhaps something made for an anniversary of the opening. As far as the wording, maybe something got lost in translation in the Asian country it was likely made. Would be nice to find another example but I haven't had any luck either.

Any thing on the back or do you have a pic of the back? The "D" in London looks like an "O", but might be just my eyes.

The "D" in FED TAX looks rather rounded as well. Maybe the font used.

How many Fridays are in June of 1971? I would check them all to see who was on stage at 8 PM...

I think it has to be the 18th or the 25th.

Well the opening in London was June 14, a Monday. So there were two Fridays remaining in June, 18th and 25th. I haven't found a acts listing for those weeks.
