I managed to do a quick hunt at one of our regular spots as the sun went down yesterday (at 4:30 in the afternoon 
!). My very first signal was a faint 89 on the Deus, and managed a copper at about 10 inches. We've POUNDED this spot but I don't have to tell you guys how often there's a leftover or two.
Got home and cleaned it up a little and maybe it's wishful thinking but it looks like the shape of a Liberty Cap largie. I tried to photograph what I think I'm seeing:
If so, this would put the coin somewhere between 1793-96. I've been trying to get into the US 1700 Club for fifteen years, I wish I could know for sure! I'll keep at it, I'm sure there's a better looking one still out there! Here's another photo on the Red Book page:
Hope the season was good to you all, not quite over yet here in New England as long as the ground stays somewhat soft.
