I don't understand the logic at the top!!! We are so deep in spending that we had to raise the spending limit. So what do they do up top? They give BILLIONS in aid to Egypt and then we give them some F-16 fighters and some of out Abrams tanks which have top secret fire controls. This is the same Egypt that has a radical majority that has just taken over the government. Does anyone understand? Frank

The thinking might just be to arm the most likely nation to create stability when this area goes nuts. When it comes to picking sides sometimes you go with the best shot you've got.
So many cheered when Gaddafi fell but got very quiet when all his sophisticated weapons he had went everywhere. Now some wonder, were we better off with Gaddafi. Same with Egypt. Things were somewhat stable now no one knows who or what will end up on top.
The thing about most dictators is they usually won't risk loosing their position of power. The USA will often support dictators, like them or not, as they are often the glue that keeps things together in an area.
Change is one of the most destructive forces in nature.

What we have is a situation where all outsiders (infidels) are enemies. And since that group has two branches that are trying to kill each other off, there can be no peace there. As soon as we leave Iraq and Afghanistan the fighting will commence again. The Russians even realized that. It's like dropping our money in a cesspool. So much for Arab spring. We just helped open up the biggest can of warms and its going to be a bloody mess for years. People need to realize that sometimes we want dictators running countries and keeping their people in line. We love to talk democracy but then get burned bad by the results - Hamas was democratically elected, Muslim brotherhood was democratically elected.

We definitely DO NOT have a good track record with nation state building and should probably just stop trying to play the game!!
