All credit to my Dad for finding this beauty! We’ve been hitting a farm field that shows a house on mid 1800’s maps that is no longer standing. All signs in the field point to a house as there are brick shards and pieces of pottery everywhere. My Dad popped this one out on the first visit, an 1830 Miguel I Pataco (40 Réis) which originates from Portugal. The details are amazing for a coin that’s 189 years old. As you can see in the pictures, the thickness is like no other copper we’ve dug!

That one must have sounded great! Probably too good. Crazy thick. Congrats

That is one large coin! :icon_thumleft:

That is a beautiful old coin and quite unique. I have found some thick new foreign coins, but nothing old. Congratulations to dad and both of you keep swingin.
