Stumped on this one really. Not sure if its a clasp piece or honestly, I'm not sure where to guess. The back is smooth. It is fairly heavy gauge, at least 1/16" or just over 1/16" thick. This side seems decorative. The flat end seems like it may have been broken off at one point but I can't tell if it's the entire edge or just near each corner.

Thoughts?
Thanks for looking!

Someone suggested to me it could have been part of some buckle or belt clasp (I may be using the wrong wording here though), or maybe more like a type of catch. Not sure though.. hoping maybe someone recognizes the shape or design on it.

A sash buckle? A photo of the back would help.

Here's a few more from various angles. The reverse is pretty smooth. No marks or broken off spots that I can see. It does seem bent up a bit, whether that is original or because it came from a potato field, I'm not sure. The end pic, you can sort of see the corners where it looks like it may have been broken off at two tabs or small spots. Thanks for looking.
