Got out for a morning hunt at a local park and did great. The silver chain came after 35-minutes of digging pennies and canslaw, at about 3" deep, then after about 15 more pulltabs I got a "coke can" signal, but for whatever reason I decided to dig it. Out popped a 2.5-ounce Sterling silver bracelet (about 5" deep) - Wow!

The cigar shaped do-hicky has me stumped. It is heavy (brass, copper, just don't know). Anybody have any clue?

Guy wire splice, called a cigar by lineman is what it may be.(if it has holes in each end) Old school though!

Your exactly right! But they are not old school, we still use them ever day. Take a look at the overhead wires around your area, you will find hundreds of them!

The proper name for your cigar is a full tension automatic splice for what looks like#4 solid copper wire I use them every day and they go by many nicknames( jiffy, pickle, sleeve) it works just like Chinese finger cuffs, power line wire goes in either side and small clamps inside grip down when tension is applied
