I would like to say, I think this forum is the best. I am new to this and live in Maryland just purchased my first metal detector and would like to know if there are any places in my area that I can go to use it? just got back from North Point Park and they do not allow it there.

Not from Maryland, so I can't give you MUCH help. except to say check with the city, county and state parks depts to find out where you can, and if there's a permit involved, rules they have, etc. You may find more parks than you can shake a stick at

Welcome to the hobby and forum. Jeffro was right about checking with your officials. Just remember to not leave any holes and carry your trash out with you. Never show anyone in the parks what you've found, show them junk.

Welcome to the forum Research_Find. Try the schoolyards also, especially the elementary ones that have jungle gym equipment out there. Just make sure you fill in the holes so no kid breaks an ankle. I contacted my Board of Education and they gave me permission. Try that also when school starts up again. But since it is summer you might want to just give it a try going to a school and see what you can find.
