Hello, brand new to the site. wanted to take the time to introduce myself.
I am a recent retiree, just looking to get out a little more often, I have myself a
Garrett Ace 250, and was wondering what my machine is good at locating.
is it good for beach, field, woods, parks, etc. any info would be appreciated.

Also I am a native Rhode Islander, and was wondering if there are any others
from the state?

The 250 is a good beginner land detector, it want work on salt beaches as it is a single freq (6.5khz) detector with no manual or auto ground balance, it has a factory set ground balance set for average soils.

It doesnt work well in highly mineralized soils such as salt beaches because of the no ground balance and single freq.

Welcome from the Treasure Coast. You are starting out ahead of my first Bounty Hunter already. Which by the way found a 1715 engraver's tool in a tall cut at the beach at Ft Pierce jetty. Good luck and good hunting.
