I'm not treasurebum but I do live in Mississippi and you are right about the snakes especially the cottonmouths. We just let them keep any treasure in their territory until about this time of year and only go when it is below freezing. I had a dog bitten by a cottonmouth on New Years day one time when it was about 70 degrees. Did you notice that a sssnake even replied on this topic?

hi every body more trouble with rattle snakes than cotton mouths. well it just will not quit raining here in the small town of flora ms. seems like if i am off work it rains.but forecast is good for up comming week end so mabey i can swing the ole det, a little bit. great hunting to everyone
