Hi All, just to get started I've been a casual detectorist for the last several years, (recent college grad) an I've been learning the ropes with a BH Discovery 2200.

I've been wanting to make the plunge to a more professional detector for a year or so and I'd love to get some feedback on what would be a good detector for my interests and price range.

I frequent the nearby parks and anytime land is being cleared, and for that the Discovery works fine. But my real interest lies in beach detecting, though I've been limited to dry sand up till now.

I'm still on a budget and I'm trying to find something in the 300-400 range (if possible). And I've been haunting Kelly Co's refurbished pages for months.

I was ready to pull the trigger on a Viper Trident (280 down from 999) but after doing some research I saw that it got some really lackluster reviews.

Anyways, glad to be joining

Would love any feedback or tips you guys have,

Will

maybe look at :
[h=2]Minelab X-Terra 305 $399.00 and check how people using one on beach hunting forum are making out.[/h]I have an Explorer and it does quite well in wet or dry sand. Coil is waterproof but not a waterproof machine. If you want a fully waterproof machine, I think you'll have to spend
more $.
