Hello everyone-
I'm new to the hobby, and I'm just making my 1st purchase. I live in southern Maryland, and have always been fascinated with the local history of the area. I'd like to get a metal detector with the primary interest of finding old "relics" and coins. Nothing valuable, but just the local history of what's around a building lot and portion of an old roadbed, etc.
I'm a complete newbie, and was looking along the lines of either a Teknetics T2 Special, Limited Edition Metal Detector, or the AT Pro model.
Does anyone have any thoughts toward either of these units, or any others that may be out there? I'd like to keep the purchase to around $500 if possible, but I've read a lot of good reviews for the Teknetics T2 Special, Limited Edition - which looks to be about $600. The Teknetics T2 Special edition model seems to have been around for quite a few years, but looks like it still might be a good choice.
Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks for any advice, and thanks for such a great forum-
Mike
