Help can anyone tell me what this was. i think its made of pewter.and how old.

Found in waxhaw nc today.not sure what it is has chattanooga knitting all writeing is backward.also can see a womans hands knitting i guess.

What Professor said. It is linotype alloy (lead/antimony) for printing.

Neat find! I think it is circa 1911 - this is from the The Greenwood Index newspaper (South Carolina) - the same ad ran in a few other newspapers around the same time.
