Help! Garrett AT Pro Assembly

I got my AT Pro today and I cannot figure out how to get the shaft together. The straight shaft piece has 2 big nuts on each end that Im not sure whether to remove or not. The directions do not show these nuts or even how to remove them. Can anybody help me??
