I found this today in a 230 years old farm field. It's not been cleaned other then under water. Date looks like 1828. But not sure. It is the same size as the seated half dime. The edges are not reeded

See below. It's a Canadian fishscale. 1902-1910.

Hard to tell, need better pics--:dontknow:

I "think" (pretty sure) I'm seeing an Edward VII bust, rotate 90 degrees to the right. and if that is the case, and your quite sure of the "8" then it is 1908 Can. 5 cent silver, Don't know about the reeding...worn enough to be gone ? I have half dimes with no reeding left.

AS it is in the shape it is give it a little bit of tooth paste cleaning.

Yeah I think Rick nailed it , It indeed appears to be a Canadian 5 cent silver ("fishscale") of King Edward VII -1902-1910 .

The date is at the bottom of the photo. I found a lot of the fish scales. Date is in the middle on the obverse. I think it's an 1838 seated half dime after comparing. Definitely stars around the rim. Sorry for the awful photos. Ill clean as best as I can and post hopefully better tonight

Did you post the right picture ? cause 2 of us can clearly see Edward VII outline and crown, guarantee there is no date on that pic. Very strange for someone who has found a lot of fishscales.

I've got an Ed. VII fishscale on hand as I write this - I rotated it a quarter turn counter clockwise - it is a dead on match to the coin you've
pictured - the crown , finial atop the crown , the ear location , the shoulderline/truncated bust , the back of neck into shoulder line ,
All of these line up perfectly - just makes me wonder if you accidently put up the wrong pic ?

No. I think you are right. I swear I was seeing a date. Seated fever I suppose. I think you guys are right. Fishie. I've just neer found one this rough before

Thanks gang. You are 100% correct. It's a fishie. I can see the details through a loupe. I must have been seeing some of the writing. It's my first no date fishie. I offer my fullest apologies. Great call. I appreciate the help. Fooled me

Regardless, it's a nice find! I can't speak for everyone, but I have made a mistake in identifying a coin I found. It's easy to do, no matter how many of one coin you find. I thought I had an LC, and I was sure of it....ive seen hundreds...ended up being a shipping token. Could have swore I saw a date, but nope. We all make mistakes. Great find DH!
