Maybe they got lost-should've turned right at the Mississippi instead of left.

Im sure you have a m1850 something socket bayonet.Ive never been up on my bayonet history,but I'd do a search on them bud If I was you.Nice find btw!

I found out its an 1809 prussian bayonet, used by Union troops during the civil war.
