Help Identify Some Farmland Iron Please

So, I could use some help figuring out what this Iron thing is. Found it in the middle of a former farm field about 100 yards from the farmhouse built in 1849. Thanks for your input in advance. I have a clue what it might be, but will refer to you experts...thanks for looking.

This is just a guess, but Im thinking some sort of brake pivot... What you thinking Jim?
 

That's a pedal with those grip grooves on it.
 

See, I thought petal too. The grooves and all. But, I have another idea that I think is the right answer......wait for it....... wait some more...OK that's enough. I think it is the part of a fence. The tube part is the pivot point and the Petal looking part is half of the whole that holds the fence to the pivot point. The groves in the petal part would have matching groves on another half and the grooves are where bolts are put through to tighten the halves together. Boy, hope this makes sense.....

Well that's a first, never seen that before-that being a PDF down to see a picture on the site-I guess that won't happen.
 

Now I think it is part of a fence post..?
