Found this in my mothers back yard detecting. Used to be military barracks in the area and now is a University. Any idea? Some kind of badge or medallion with a early airplane on it. Dont see any writing anywhere

Looks like a watch fob, but I've not seen any that thin, most are cast, not stamped.

Edit: Here you go... indeed a watch fob, the bail at the top was the give away to it's identity.

It’s that DCMatt & NHBenz that beat me out all of the time. Slow day at work, nothing to do ID stuff on Tnet.

Best to all of you.

And in case I forgot to mention, nice fob 57B.

That's funny a 1940s bobby pin hit by a lawn mower could be identified by maker and plant lol

You are right on Carolina Tom I found online that was exactly what it was and its made of solid brass. I put it in a solution of 2 parts Hydrogen Peroxide and one part vineger for a couple hours and this is what its looking like now after a little polishing. I searched forever until I got the clue of "watch fob" and found it instantly lol

The info I found says it is a pre WWI watch FOB which is awesome!watch FOB.webp

I also found this buckle in the same spot says "Waterbury Buckle Co" and I tracked down an identical one that says it is from the teens or 20's. Waterbury has been making military buckles for 155 years apparently.buckle1.webp

It appears to be solid copper and used to be brass plated? After polishing it up all the brass has worn off (or gold color anyway) and just looks like copper now

I see traces of the gold color on the back of it

I also found what looks to be part of a come along? here is a pic of before putting it in an electrolosys bath and after.

Also found a 1920 D wheat penny and this piece of China that happened to be next to a piece of metal junk. The logo on the China I found to be from 1897 to 1907
