Welcome to the forum. There should be something on the left and right side of the crown. If you could clean that area someone may be able to help with the age

Thanks, I'll check. What's the best way to clean it to see? Any suggestions?

Hi; it was made in London. This is due to the Crown. Double Gilt means it was plated twice in Gold. It is Rev war Era ok. Clean it up with a mix of 50% Lemon Juice & 50% Water. Let it soak a few days. Take a wooden toothpick and gently "PUSH" the loosened dirt off. This may take a few soakings but the end results are worth it ok. PEACE:RONB

A little bit past the Rev War era. Flat buttons with back marks were made from the 1790s through around the 1830s. Good find though-congrats

Is the lettering raised or indented? If its raised then it could be as early as the 1790's, and if indented its more likely 1810's at the earliest. As DownNDirty mentioned, it is not Revolutionary War era.
