Help IDing this relic?

Hi ya'll, I found this item at an old site, possible 17th cent. can anyone help to ID this? I think it may be an old candle stick holder but it would place the candle really close to the wall unless it had some sort of deflector to prevent it from burning the wall.

Yes that is a possiblity. The barrel, for lack of a better word, is too thin to be a hinge piece. It looks a little like something you might see in a church holding those tall skinny candles.

It would be a pretty small candle, maybe it went sideways to hold a curtain rod.

I could see that as being a drawer pull, missing the other end and the handle. I assume it has a hole in the end?

Yes it could possible a drawer pull piece, the only thing is the piece that the handle butt would go into is thin and would easily ware out. It is also about 1/2 inch in diameter so that would have to be a fairly thick handle. Still thinking a candle stick holder but I just don't know for certain.

I believe it is part of a cabinet hinge there would be four parts total, that part would be a top or bottom piece, the other part is a rod attached to a flat part that screws to the door of the cabinet.We had that style in an 100 year old house we lived in when I was growing up they squeak and squeal like heck.

I think it's a wall piece for a lantern holder. Like this one....
