Yes that is a possiblity. The barrel, for lack of a better word, is too thin to be a hinge piece. It looks a little like something you might see in a church holding those tall skinny candles.

I could see that as being a drawer pull, missing the other end and the handle. I assume it has a hole in the end?

Yes it could possible a drawer pull piece, the only thing is the piece that the handle butt would go into is thin and would easily ware out. It is also about 1/2 inch in diameter so that would have to be a fairly thick handle. Still thinking a candle stick holder but I just don't know for certain.

I believe it is part of a cabinet hinge there would be four parts total, that part would be a top or bottom piece, the other part is a rod attached to a flat part that screws to the door of the cabinet.We had that style in an 100 year old house we lived in when I was growing up they squeak and squeal like heck.
