Found this in a roll of cents. I've never seen one before. Any info would be appreciated.

It's from the Philadelphia Mint and says uncirculated.

If I don't find silver it's not because I'm not looking!

Someone posted about this several months ago- somekind of token I cant really remember much else sorry

just keep stacking, just keep stacking, stacking stacking stacking

It's from a US mint set.

I have that with my mint set from 1989

I found one from a Denver mint set.

Is '89 the only year they came out? Is it worth keeping. It's kind of ironic that it's a circulated 'uncirculated' coin.

It is not a coin, a better term would be token or trinket.

Two (one from Denver and one from Philly) were included with us mint sets from 1984-1999.
They were located in the cello wrapper like the coins of the mint set. Someone opened up a mint set and dumped the coins for face value. Given its size it was probably read by a coin counter as a penny.

A different token made from cardboard was used in pre 1973 sets.

It isn't worth anything, I would suggest dumping it for a what you paid for it, one cent.
You could try and sell it to a sucker on eBay?
They are listed on ebay

Thank you!

To me weird finds like that are worth a lot more than dumping it for $0.01. I keep a tray full of "odds-and-ends" finds, just for posterity and amusement value. Tokens, any coins mutilated or defaced in an amusing way, etc.

I have seen these sometimes sell for $1 or so on ebay. Just an FYI.

Also, I always thought - maybe mistakenly - that these were struck on cent planchets. Definitely not 100% sure on that, and dunno what it matters anyway. :laughing7:
