Looks more like a potato .. is the photo distorted?

Have you seen a 12 cm potato before?

Sorry, don't have any information but congrat's on a great find & welcome to the forum! Photo look's fine on my computer.................

Iowa Dale

I'm no expert but the cannonballs I've seen posted here are round, so as not to get stuck in the barrel.

What makes you think this is a cannonball?

This is how the OP wanted us to see it...

From what i know an exact measurement in both weight and diameter will help a lot.

I am at a loss...
What more details are you looking for ?
You said you already "know it is Spanish"...
you know it is 12cm...

Here is what I will add...
It is round and heavy.
Now go find the cannon that fired it and you may actually have something. :)

Hi ARRC

Thanks for replying..
I'm from the north of Africa "Morocco", my country was occupied by the Spanish for many years, spanish still own a city close to us, called "melilla", and I'm collecting some information of ware history and the arms used in.
I found this Cannonball close to melilla city,it's clear that is fired from a spanish cannon, the only information i want to know is the model of the cannon fired from according to the size of ball.

Sorry for my bad English [emoji4]

Hi Mafioso3, as Westfront said, get EXACT measurement in both weight and diameter so the experts can chime in.

Btw, I have close relatives and friends from Tetuan and Melilla...

It is a 120 mm
My guess...
Gonzalez Hontoria de 12 cm mod 1879... era 1879 – 1900s
OR
Gonzalez Hontoria de 12 cm mod 1883... era 1883 – 1910s

To be sure I need an EXACT size. ... to the mm
Try to get your hand on a good gauge... to measure.

All other 120's are British. btw
