This button has a nice finish on it. It appears to be the old mercury gilding. The anchor flute is also tucked under the wing like Civil War era US Navy buttons.

The wing tops however are rounded and the anchor ring is completely visible, so Im leaning toward an old 19th century fashion button.

Can you read anything on the backmark?
