Hi all, me and my father found these two coins today, and we have researched enough to know they are from the Manchu dynasty, 1644-1911. They are bronze, not brass. They were found at an old gold mining camp from the 1800's. Hehe,, Dad found his first, and said "come check this out!",,, so I did. Then I swung my detector 15 feet away, and dug up the second coin! LOL:) He was happy for me, as I was for him:)
Anyway, if anyone can read Chinese, please help!

There are two coins,, 4 pics, front and reverse

the only thing I can tell you is it is known as a "Chinese Cash Coin"

and since there were alot of Chinese Gold Miners, my guess it would date to the Gold Rush days. or a little before.

But Don't go by that.

PBK may be able to help with age when he sees it.

Well, I think I can help. The picture labeled Chin12 is from 1736. Picture Chin 11 identifies it as coming from Yunan Province. Unfortunatly these were made in the millions, and therefore worth only about $1-2

As for Chin 21, it can be dated from 1662. Again, unfortunatly worth only about $1-2. Unfortunatly I cannot see the markings on the back clearly enough to identify the province, but hopes this helps!

Wow, Jadish, thank you for the info. They date way older than I had hoped for! I appreciate your response.
