These crystals are pretty common in my neighborhood in the Cuyamaca Mountains, San Diego Co., California. I'm new to mineral ID but interested in getting better at it and building a collection.

Can someone help with ID of this gray mineral with the distinct unidirectional ridges. I thought the white stuff around it might be quartz or feldspar - help there would be great too!

Thanks. Crystals Rock from Cuyamaca Woods Cuyamaca Mts CA Mar 2016 with scale copy.webp

Smoky quartz and white feldspar. Might be an indicator of pegmatite, which is where the really good stuff like tourmaline is found!
