Found this today with my AT Pro. It's brass with crossed cannons below the eagle and US under the cannons. No markings or clasp/pin on backside. Is it from WWI , WWII or some other conflict? Thanks for any help. 1225161636.webp

rotate the pic so it faces up and down --artillery item maybe a hat pin size ? the shield design type looks maybe Spanish American War or WW1 eraish

Interesting - just doesn't look right. The Artillery Insignia (cannons) appear to be upside down and placed on Officer type eagle insignia along with the US insignia? Sure looks old but just doesn't look correct...but hey - what do I know! :laughing7:

I believe the incorrect configuration of the stars above it also suggests that it isn't military.
Good eye on the cannons VP, that didn't jump out at me. Funny that what they did is move the cascabel knob to the wrong (narrower) end of the barrel.
Then they left off the dot after the S in U.S., so that no element of this exactly copied a military pin.

seems like I've seen one of these before, but can't remember for sure. I just spent at least 30 minutes searching the net and came up with nothing. would be better to have a size reference. As of now, I'm going to assume it's a sweetheart pin or ribbon device, probably Span-Am War or WW1 era

Just wondering if it could possibly be a prize from cracker jack between WW1 and WW2 era ? I also searched the internet to no avail but did see a few Cracker Jack prizes from late '20's to 1940's that were military related

Several of you have asked for a picture if the backside of the insignia so this is the best I could do with my phone camera. Hope it is good enough to see. 1227160834~4.webp

uh I just saw a similar hat pin on a slouch hat --(side folded ) that had a rifle on it --while watching the "civil war " show on tv --it was worn by the 1st Virgina troops who at the time were dressed in union blue ...

while watching the civil war show on tv -- battle of bull run --I saw a very similar hat pin exceot had a rifle instead of cannons -- it was on a slouch type hat (side folded ) and was pinned thru it --this was on a 1st Virgina troopers hat --early in the war --some of the state militia troops for the south had "union blue"" uniforms --since the state militia had bought them pre war from the federal govt --the 1st Virgina was exactly like that (union supplied so it would have said "US" on it )...so it might be a civil war era item
