About the size of a US quarter maybe copper or bronze. Found in older 20s-30s church yard. Thanks!

Looks like a replica spanish treasure coin that the plating has nearly worn off on. I can make out the cross with castles and lions on one side and the kings name on the periphery of the other.

I will thanks!
:dontknow: Only comment is why such a non-sharp reproduction? Fakes I've seen are in FINE to UC, sharp and crisp this one looks very worn. Maybe coin used as mold was in bad shape? :icon_scratch:

I think you are confusing "sharp" with "detailed". Many cobs, because of planchet thickness variation or die position, are unevenly struck, causing only a portion of the die detail to become impressed in the coin's surface. "Sharp" to me would mean that the design elements, except where worn, appear crisp, squared off or "chiseled".

Your coin had lots of detail - most of the key design elements are there. This would be expected from a repro. Why would anyone copy a poorly struck example? If you are going to make a fantasy, repro, or downright fake it might as well be a good one. The design imprint on your coin is not "sharp" it has smoothed edges on the design elements which would be typical of replica coins made with conventional casting processes.

It looks like it was jappanned black at one time. :icon_scratch:
