This button was found at a location where I have found numerous relics from the War Of 1812 and earlier. I'm having trouble trying to identify this button???. The area it was found in is northern Maryland and property dates back to late 1600s. Thanks in advance for any information. GL&HH

Yea, I remember seeing it thinking that it was some type of spanish button. Wanna hit it up again this Fri? I also wanted to tell that I may have a really good permission lined up. I have to talk to my friend first

How did your good luck token clean up?

Cleaned up nicely. I posted a couple days ago in Today's Finds. It's an old Rexall Drug Store member's coin. I still believe it to be pre World Wars because it bears a swastika on the back of it. I'll talk to ya Friday about the details. It's a 95% chance of getting it.

Yea it looked in good shape even covered in dirt. I'm stumped on this button.

You never know what your going to find, I do like Jeff Gordon's humor. I have seen finds show up in places where there is no match to the surrounding finds. One of my theories is people collect things from all around the world, you never know? This one needs a peek from Crusader. Jewelry sometimes will have a different motif, but made in the USA. Here are a couple of my oddball finds. Hope you don't mind.

Yea its hard to believe it has direct relation with Egypt. But like you say people collect from all over the world and buttons back in the day were commonly reused over and over. I still have not been able to Id its age or region. Those look very old.

After King Tut's tomb was discovered by Carter in 1922 there was a frenzy of people trying to cash in on the popularity. This appears to be a button struck with the image of Tut using a punch and die then a shank attached. There was a plethora of artifacts made during this period honoring Carter's find and trying to make a buck off it.

does this mean that perhaps the egyptians brought the treasure to oak island?
Or it could be the treasures of king tut himself?
will the button predate the digging on oak island?

:laughing9:

Thanks for the informatioon Dewayne Hight.

I'm going with early 20th C hat button.

Thanks CRUSADER. Yea I'm thinking the same. Sometime around early 1900s. Thank you to everyone that chimed in on this button ID.
