Hello again all,

I just found this little bird point and I'm having trouble identifying it with my Overstreet book. I was hoping someone could help. The point is from the north east. Nice little point, it almost fell through my screen...

Sure someone's not play'n with you? Looks like it's just a modern "replica" point. They sell them at gift shops and such for a buck or so a bag.

Now that you mention it, it does look totally fake. I think I know someone who may have planted as he has done that to me before. Thank you, and nevermind.

The right hand side of this piece looks like it still has the outer "rind" from the stone it was knapped from. I have never seen a gift shop piece that had natural flaws or signs of limited lithic. I don't know how clear my point is. Lol! I think I'd look at it closer before calling it a fake. I'm not sure.

yea id look at that one more carefull too, some people think they came from a mold or something not everyone back then made them the same way, some did the best they could if they didnt have anything too trade to the rocksmiths back then jmo.

Some more photos would help a lot, but it does look like India red jasper and there is not much flaking on the edge.

Kinda strange but if it was a fake one most dont have the cortex still on it. I have found some that the shape is there and then just the edges are chipped Ill see if I can find a pic for ya. Its probably a knife and not a point.
