Help with writing on rings

Picked up these two rings at a sale recently just because they are different. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about the symbol on the old turquoise ring and the scrip on the gold tone one? The script is interesting because it is on the outside and inner band of the ring - reminds me of hebrew or arabic. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Looks like Tolkien's invented Elvish script from Lord of the Rings to me.



Since the movies, dozens of companies have reproduced the "one ring" in a variety of metals but most of them are gold plated base metal.
