Here's an 1890 Population by County California Census,

Posted this on another forum several years ago, Actually 1890 print and map of California and a Population of California by Counties 1890 Census.

Surprisingly, The population of several counties was so low even in counties we would expect higher populated areas.

Here are a few examples, These are a few gold rush communities so surely the population was much higher during the gold rush era of (1850-60's).

El Dorado........9,232
Mariposa.........3,787
Stanislaus......10,040

Hopefully each county can be viewed, If not ask which county you live in and I'll post it's 1890 census.

Re: Here's an 1890 Population by County California Census,

Paul,

Thanks for posting! Now it makes clear sense why the guys in LA county find more old coins than I do in San Diego!

Re: Here's an 1890 Population by County California Census,

Thanks Ziphius,

Although 1890 is not that old, This 1890 population census does give us a general idea what the population in our counties were during those times.

It also helps me determine a town/city's growth or in some rare cases a reduced population between a certain time leading up to 1890, Good tool for reseach purposes.
