Here's another lure with no name on it

It's really a pretty lure with a metallic-looking finish and glass eyes. It's about 4" long.

Yes, it does but I can't find anything to verify that. (I don't know how to spell substanciate that)

I agree with the Heddon Torpedo or knock off of one.

The hooks are the first thing to go, they still look like new. If it's old I would say it's never been used...great find.

There was an old Woodchopper lure in the box but even it had the name printed on it. Nothing in this tackle box was new, everything I found in it was from, at least, the 60's, maybe 70's. This one is in beautiful shape and quality made. The glass eyes sparkle and the metal is all shiny from the hooks to the spinners. The feathers, which look like they came off a Leghorn chicken, are a little ruffled and dirty looking. Thanks all for the help.

The prop itself is unusual in its design.I found a photo of another unmarked lure with same design.link is to where home lure makers can get the same prop.

I gave my collection to my nephew but still have a similar heddon with the chopper blades. Bass and stripers love to blow up on them early morn or late evening. Lot of paint work in that lure you think it would be stamped. That paint job says 80's to me.

Without physically holding the lure I can't be definitive. Stripers? I hope you mean the freshwater variation. .Because if I started chucking those in the salty brine they would be destroyed after the first fish. Hence, pencil poppers

Put that little thing in the Striper/Bluefish blitzs we have here in the Northeast/New England, it will be destroyed before it hits the water, pencil poppers always..Come on fall!


On a side note about antique fishing lures, I am kicking myself now the more I think about it. My grandfather when he passed was an avid fisherman like me if not more than me had an enormous stockpile of antique lures/rods and reels including three Mitchell 300's still in the box, never been used. I guess when your 21 years of age the last thing your worried about is collecting antique fishing equipment, 18 years later I continuously kick myself in the ass about it, especially the Mitchell 300's that were never used...

Do you ver get any big stripers out there? They sure taste good grilled or smoked!! The strpers in the Sacramento River here are "caught" in fresh water but come in fromthe ocean. Down in the Dlta or Frisco Bay they are all ocean also. There are some "landlocked" in the Colorado River system that I guess would be called fresh water. They catch some lunkers there.

Big as in? I am in the 50/50 club, meaning 50 lbs at 50 + inchs. However anything over 30 inchs I CPR catch photo release since anything that big are egg carrying females. The best eating ones are between 20-30 inchs. To put it in perspective, two of the biggest breeding grounds in the world for striped bass are within 150 miles radius. I live within 1/2 mile of one.

To further put it in perspective here is the new world record striped bass caught in Connecticut at 81 +lbs



Here is the old world record striped bass caught off of Atlantic City St 78 lbs.




There was a 92 lb striper caught in a net in Maryland, but since it wasn't caught by rod n reel it didn't qualify.
