Hey! TJE a stone cutter

I stopped by my buddies and customer just south of Kanab Utah. I got there in time to pull up a chair, sit down and shoot the bull in the shop as a big boulder was being cut in half. Kind of nice to sit and wait for a bit.

Hey TR, great pics!...Looks like some nice 'layers' of stone too...looks like they do quite a bit of "drilling/plug & feather" on their layers. Also notice some color/stone type difference too. They seem to have their wire saw set-up nice for boulders. Great to see! Thanks again.

Indeed they will split those big slabs with plug & feather. I sell the carbide bits they drill the holes with. The guy who owes this stone works is an old time uranium miner, who mined uranium all over the Colorado Plateau uranium boom days, he even went to Mongolia to mine uranium. Said he got the stone business going cuz no one would hire him anymore. I forgot to take a picture of the machine that mills all the fancy edges and shapes in rock. He was making some rectangle tiles out of that big boulder on the cable saw. That boulder had all these fancy little porous holes in it. It was a volcanic rock of some kind that made an interesting smooth grey rock tile out of it.

Hey TR...damn internet troubles here have been rectified I hope..Yeah, can see from last pic as well (zoomed in all your pics)..He does alot of 'specialty orders' for customers.

It's great seeing these guys at this stone operation and shootin the $hit, but sad to say I'm seeing less and less engagement amongst folks of the later generations, they just don't feel the need to talk, laugh and BS like we all did in the past. I don't have a CB anymore because no one will talk anymore. Years ago I'd have 200 mile to drive Hwy 50 in Nevada and me and some trucker would talk for all 200 miles. Its hard to find a trucker these days who just as soon kill the hours of work by having some conversation with another, don't know were everybody's thoughts are going these days like before?. It seems you folks in Canada still know the importance of shooting the bull. This here is my buddy Jim who comes down from Val Caron, Ontario to travel with me sometimes and teach young new mine mechanics how to do their job better on his rock drills. When we travel the route down here, its some of the best time for me, as Jim can sure talk and we laugh and shoot the bull for miles. To him & I its still one of the best things about being a human. But the last time I returned a call to his cell phone up in Canada I got hit with a $75.00 charge on that call as we talked for over an hour and I don't get any good rate on international calls from Verizon. He's got a 800 number I use most the time. So BSing cost me that time.
