When it comes to very old homes, look and look again, you never know what you will find and where. The guy's were cleaning out the old carriage house (just a big old barn, but matches the house) to do some repairs, in the way back corner stuffed in the beams were these. They date from 1955-1960, the boys thought they found gold. Now if they could buy those carbs for $25 still, I would have to agree it was gold.
We have lived here 15 years and the house was in the family for 30 years before that, was hoping they were my grandfathers, but not. I'm guessing they were hidden because pappa did'nt want mamma to know he was spending the hard earned 25 cents on them!
Thought some of you would enjoy looking.

Nice find COUNTRY GIRL.

I found a rolled up 1930's newspaper once and it had a bottle of moonshine in it. I wish I would have kept it. I was afraid the kids would get into it so I poured it down the drain. We never had any clogs in that drain.

Thanks guys.
Wait until you see what I found inside one of the mags. Very interesting and kind of sad. I will try to scan it when I get home. I need to look through the rest of them to see if I can find the rest of the story.

Re: Hidden in old carriage house, new find inside

I am not sure what this means or why it was tucked inside one of the mags., can anyone tell me where this came from or any info. I am sure it was about the war, history of the wars is not my strong point. If it did not scan well enough to read, I will try to type it out word for word. The page was smaller then the mag. by quite a bit.

The first page talks of a Island battle in the Pacific during WW-2, I went over to a WW-2 forum and posted a few key words in hopes of finding out which battle it was, I will let you know...

The pages were important to someone, I'm guessing a vet who was there, or maybe a dad who's son was killed there, (80% casualties...WOW!)

Thanks for the help. When I found it I read it to my husband and we were both very somber the rest of the evening. The ammount of people that suffer for us (then and now) made me drop a tear.
Thanks again.

If you want to sell the Car Crafts... let me know! :D

Awesome finds, Kim!! ;D ;D I knew there had to be good stuff in there, just from the looks of it! The book looks like a page from a novel, will try some more research later...
How was your visit w/ Uncle Lloyd?

Thanks Lara how come every time you pop in my head out pops mail from you? Thanks for the help on the story. Sad.
Uncle Lloyd was good. Your idea on the music gave me a diffrent idea on stimulation (you get the credit), I have no old music. I pulled out a pen and paper and drew a line, handed it to him, and he drew a line. Remember that game? Well we drew for about 45 min, I couldn't believe he caught on. Then he wrote his name and handed me the paper, we did this for about an hour, then he wouldn't give it back and wrote for an hour on his own! Thanks for caring.

For all others Uncle Lloyd is 91 in a nursing home we bring him home every other weekend to get him out.

That's so great! When he was writing on his own, was he writing or drawing? Isn't it amazing the way things stay buried, but they're still there? I'm really glad...

Both, we drew, then he wrote his name, I used a couple big words and he pushed the paper back. I wrote cat, dog, tiger, gerry, and he copied them. Then he took over and started writing in cursive, but didn't want to play with me anymore. Then alot of numbers. Thanks again for the idea.
