Yep! As soon as they banned the Russian imports they skyrocketed!
I dont collect older firearms, but try and stay updated on prices. I occasionally stumble upon firearms that people have no clue what the real value is.

The older Russian ones are classified as Curio amd Relics

I know a few people who got the license from the ATF for Curio and Relics. Very convenient for them since the firearm can ship right to thier front door.
It doesn't do much for me though. Most everything I buy is modern or would still be an NFA item.
Once Russian imports stopped. My cheap AK ammo got hard to find and cost more. Then my hopes of obtaining a Russian Kirink or Bizon disappeared...lol!
Even if I pull every ATF license possibly I cant make it happen...lol! I can dream though!

The Curio and Relic guns in California could be legally sold in face to face transactions, without the involvement of an FFL. To have them shipped to you, you needed the C&R license. Least that’s how I understood how it worked. Laws could and probably have changed. Edit: Laws have changed. But at the time it applied only to long guns and it had to be an infrequent purchase, not as part of a business. The days of buying old shotguns at the yard sale have sadly passed.

LOL. I can barely follow the California laws. You are correct. To have them shipped to your door you need the C&R license. I think its pretty cheap and easy to get.
Im in GA. I can sell anything, but an NFA items to someone in a parking lot! I dont,but i could. Most people atleast ask to see a valid CCW before a private sale,but not all.
Every year guns are added to the C&R list as they age in and become C&R's. So for a collector of older firearms its a good investment.

Century built some "red Army" Ak's with cast trunnions. Hey go U.S.!
Looked good and price wasn't bad.
I fired one I bought a few times and sold it.
A couple Chinese SKS's later , and a Yugo and suddenly stocks and parts started accumulating.
Un-modifying Bubba jobs on a couple cheap priced ones was well worth the results if not original stock.
Got a Queen of course but those aren't as fun to go frolic with without worrying about a scratch.

California (well a while back still did IF they allow SKS's today it may be the same today...) insisted upon 5 round magazine capacities for SKS..
Meaning import or sell them accordingly.
Aftermarket magazines cost as much or more as old imported rifles did. Parts from originals aren't devalued in magazines either.
Don't know when the last ten round with a star on it was up for grabs reasonable. Reasonable anymore ; meaning not half the cost or more of the rifle back when a rifle was a couple hundred.

Canada (surprise surprise given anal pucker type gun laws there ) had the last Russian SKS's priced reasonable that I knew of from dealers/gun shops. ( Disclaimer5 round magazine capacity modified of course maybe).
They may still for all I know.
