Highly mineralized soil identification?

I was looking at a couple of coil options for my Ace 250 and one option - the 8.5x11 DD states that it helps eliminate false signals caused by heavily mineralized soil and salt water. How do you identify this type of soil? Is it a geographical thing where it's mostly found in certain parts of the country or is it a local condition that can be found anywhere? Clues to look for?

NOT an expert on this, but I think it's mostly a geographic variable. MOST (90%+) soils are OK, and you don't have to worry about mineralization. HOWEVER, if you are looking for gold, silver or other specialty items, these generally occur in odd soil types.

You KNOW what normal soil looks like . . . brown and mixed with organic matter.
If you look down and see crystals, flakes, odd colors, little plant growth, and
your detector starts giving off odd signals for no apparent reason, then that is a clue.
