First off, this is not my find, but a friend/coworker's find. He has been hunting for a couple of years and found his first silver coin...A well circulated 1896-O Morgan silver dollar. A very awesome coin for a first silver. This was found in the front yard of a house built in the late 1800's near the sidewalk. It was found at 5 inches with a Garrett 2500. The coin has a lot of miles on her, but she definetly has character. Thanks for looking

Isn't it great that even with all that wear you can still clearly see "liberty" on the obverse? That's great!!!

That's a great find. To bad the person didn't loose it when it was brand new, Bluebook gives the 1896-O $500 in MS-60 and it jumps all the way up to $80,000 in MS-65 :o :o :o

As is, about $12.00....Great find!!!

That's a rare find these days for sure,
something to be proud of. It's been 20 years
since I dug a silver dollar... here's hoping.
This proves it's still possible. Congrats to him!

Smiles!

Doug, tell your buddy congrats...that is awesome. I turned a friend of mine on to metal detecting last week. Bought himself a Ace 250 and went out for 1 hour on Monday night......found a 22CT Mans ring from India....pretty sweet...and some great beginners luck. Take care

Very nice find. I've been detecting since 1981. I've found gold coins, gold pocket watches, hundreds of silver
coins, in fact, enough stuff to fill up 2 safe deposit boxes.... but I've never found a silver dollar!!
I'm going to try to remedy that situation this year!! What type of area was it found? Park? Yard?
Once again, nice find!!
