Highly unusual for me to detect in JAN, temps cracked 40 [at least during the day] here in MI so I gave it a go.

Woodchips are still frozen solid down about 2" or so, really not worth it to hack up all the deeper signals so I concentrated on surface/shallow finds. Went out after dark, my favorite time to detect playgrounds, and really the only time I ever go.

Finds were pretty sparse, did find a $20 bill blowing around a fence.
Also found a ring, I thought for sure it was silver 1st glance, on inspection it is a bit pitted inside so probably not. No markings inside, oddly enough it has what appears to be "90" stamped on the outside.

Hands started to freeze up after half an hour or so so I called it a night, felt good to get back out swinging.

I saw people outside wearing shorts today here in Indiana. Time to dust off the detecting gear. :)

Paper money is always a nice surprise! I always look around fence lines just for that reason......Congrats on a great hunt! :icon_thumright:

Good stuff Doug. That twenty must have put a smile on your face! It would have on mine. Can't wait to play in the water there in a few months.
