Hitching Post Ring ( maybe ?... )

Dug this up out at new permission. It was about 4 inches down and locked between back of main house and the wash house ( still standing). Current house circa 1913 however, there was a house there showing on 1870 map of Wake Co
Not sure if it is a hitching post ring or maybe a door handle(?) Magnetic so i believe cast iron got it currently in electrolysis bath

Horse cinch rings have good size.
Looking online shows 3.5 inch diameter. Pony at 3 inch.
Shouldn't draft horse be bigger?
