Harp on front... "Waterbury Button Co ***" on back. Appears to have been gold gilted at one time. Any help with ID is greatly appreciated. Was found at a cabin built in 1818, Northern Kentucky.

It is a musician uniform button. That backmark was used from 1849 - 1965. I saw some examples on-line of Waterbury Button Co. ** but haven't found any with ***. Yours was certainly in the ground for a long time.

Could be Civil War or maybe from one of the thousands of military type bands that nearly every town in the USA had in the late 19th C.

Kinda what I was thinking as well... a local county or city band from the late 1800's or early 1900's. I did find a nice Shield Nickel at this site, and as I stated, the cabin was built in 1818. Plenty of old stuff there that's for sure!
