Hmmmm...Maybe a new dumping idea?

So, I stopped by the local market today, and I had forgot my wallet.
I usually keep a roll or 2 of half dollars in the truck, so I thought 'What the heck?", and went in to pay with a hand full of coins.
'Wow', the checker says. 'I have never seen so many!' This was about 6 bux worth.
She said a guy comes around every other day, and buys up all their half dollar coins, and noted that he will be mad he missed them.
Now, if I was a quick thinker, I would have asked for his phone number, and found out if he would be interested in about $500 of them a week. lol

Ya, he's most likely another CRH looking for different avenues of getting halves. He'd be very upset if he was getting someone's dump.

I have used my dumps for buying a couple of bikes, cost $650 each, gave them $1,300 in halves. Bought a used motorhome, left the owner $1,000 in halves as a deposit. Had the motorhome washed and polished, paid the fellow $400 in halves. Had some extra landscaping done, paid the fellow, $1,100 in halves. Had the electrican do some wiring work in the house, paid him $300 in halves. Had carpet installed in a bedroom, paid the bill in halves. Had the exterior of the house painted and paid the 2 grand in halves. Just ask before hand if they will take cash?, well actually half dollars, and kind of make it sound like you have been collecting these for years and I want to get rid of them. Seems to work for me.

If you find a place willing to take a massive amount of halves then more power to you. I would use them until they ask you to stop. At least dump $100 bucks worth and see what they say. I would pay for my groceries in half dollars there from now on.

seems like a lot of you "Dumping" these halves are just spending them... Not quite a dump unless you get back what you put in, right>?

I was asked to close an account recently because their coin machine isn't made for the volume I bring in. This was Grand Bank of Texas in Dallas.

I CRH about $1k-$2k a week and they knew this when I opened the account. I even got a hand written welcome card stating good luck finding your coins, lol and they did not like the amount of money I brought in so back to rolling them. My primary bank takes them rolled.

I had a CU with a nice coin counter to use, until they slapped a 12% fee on it.
I got another that doesn't charge yet. But I don't want to overwhelm them.
I'm just fiddling around with 1 box per week.
When I was doing 4 per week I made use of a casino coin counter. They always counted with a smile, as long as I tipped 5 or 10$.
The trick there is to get out the door with the cash!
I would not seriously go drop 2 or 3 hundred in half dollars at my local grocery. A lot of people don't see half dollars regularly, and tthey seem to hang on to them when they get them.
I save all NIFC's to spend around. Those poor coins need to be out there, getting all dinged and scratched. They don't want to spend their lives jumping from box to box. They need to be free!!!
